RegExp static propertiesLimited availability

The RegExp object has several static properties to access the input and results of the most-recent regular expression match.

Not yet supported in all major browsers — check the table and provide a fallback.

Discouraged: The RegExp static properties may have unintended side effects.

How to use

Support is still inconsistent across browsers. Use feature detection and test carefully.

Example

Full syntax and examples are on MDN: input.

JS · check before using
if ("input" in RegExp || ("prototype" in RegExp && "input" in RegExp.prototype)) {
